Teach your kids emotions in Hindi!

Aap kaise ho? How are you?

Main khush hoon! I am happy!

I'm sure you notice your kids being happy one moment and then angry and stomping their feet the next -- yup, we've all been there.

Kids often shift through emotions quickly, but that’s still a beautiful thing.

Emotions are how they learn about themselves and the world around them — happiness, sadness, even anger. That’s why teaching them the words for feelings in Hindi (or any language) can be such a gift.

Instead of labeling emotions as good or bad, we can encourage kids to notice, express, and learn from them all.

Here are some emotions vocabulary you can teach your little one:

Here's how you can use some of them in a sentence:

1. Main shaant hoon - I am calm.

2. Main udaas hoon - I am sad.

3. Main khush hoon - I am happy.

4. Main gussa hoon - I am angry.

You can even add the word bahut very. "Main bahut khush hoon". I am very happy 😃

So next time someone asks them "aap kaise ho", instead of main theek hoon, perhaps help them try one of these.

Here are some other great sentences to teach them too.

Sometimes our little ones are scared of things, this is a lovely sentence to encourage them to express it in Hindi.

Mujhe____se dar lagta hai.

Mujhe spider se dar lagta hai. I am scared of spiders!

A great one to know when they are sleepy 😴

So how are you feeling today? Aaj aap kaise ho!
